How to Add an A Record for White-Labelling CallFluent

3 min. readlast update: 11.14.2024

If you’re setting up a custom domain for white-labeling CallFluent, you may need to add an A record in your domain’s DNS settings. Here’s a straightforward guide to help you through the process.

Important Note on Where to Set Up the A Record

Where you set up the A record depends on where your domain's name servers are managed:

  • If your domain and name servers are hosted by the same provider (e.g., GoDaddy), you only need to add the A record there.

  • If your domain's name servers are hosted elsewhere (e.g., your domain is with GoDaddy, but the name servers are managed by HostGator), you need to add the A record where the name servers are managed, not at the domain registrar.

In summary: For external name servers, update the A record in the hosting provider’s DNS settings, not the domain registrar.

Steps for Adding an A Record with cPanel

If you’re using a hosting provider with cPanel access, follow these steps:

  1. Add the Domain in CallFluent:

    • Log in to CallFluent and go to the Customize App section.

    • Enter a domain name, such as app.yourdomain.com (you can replace "app" with any subdomain you prefer).

    • Fill in the rest of the customization details as needed.

  2. Access the Zone Editor in cPanel:

    • Log in to your hosting provider's cPanel.

    • Search for Zone Editor (it may also be labeled as DNS Zone Editor).

    • Click on + A Record to add a new A record.

  3. Enter the Domain Name and IP Address:

    • In the Name field, enter the full domain you set in CallFluent, such as app.yourdomain.com.

    • In the Address field, enter the IP address provided by CallFluent (you can find this in the customize app section within your CallFluent account).

    • Click Add A Record to save.

  1. Wait for Propagation:

    • It may take up to 30 minutes for the DNS changes to propagate across the internet.

Additional Tips

  • If You Use Cloudflare: Be aware that Cloudflare may override your A record settings. Double-check your Cloudflare configuration to ensure it doesn’t interfere with your DNS setup for CallFluent.

After following these steps, your custom domain should be set up for white-labeling CallFluent.
